Healthcare and Prices
Here’s my opinion on the #Healthcare industry, pricing, and the cost of health care. In EVERY other industry, the consumer knows EXACTLY what the price is going to be before they make use of the product/service. The medical industry is the lone exception.
Why is that?
#ChargeMaster rates. Look up the term if you’re not familiar with it.
Basically, it’s a shell game where the insurance companies “haggle” with the providers. But even THAT is a scam. Because the providers over-charge the insurance initially ON PURPOSE to give them a good starting place for the haggling.
BUT, even THAT is a shell game. Because the real costs of health care are being hidden via the providers’ own materials/consumables/etc providers. The ones that make band-aids in the emergency room cost $250+ and other such nonsense.
The providers aren’t getting rich, and the patients certainly aren’t.
But you know who is? The insurance companies and ALL of the companies that sell products and services TO providers. THAT is the source of the problem.
Obamacare wasn’t only a failure. It was actually a GIFT to these businesses. Because it FORCED people to have insurance under penalty of law.
The whole thing is a scam.
We don’t have a free market in Healthcare, we haven’t for almost a hundred years – we have a couple of oligarchies.
We have two possible solutions to get out of this “halfway” system that doesn’t benefit the consumer but rather benefits all of the other businesses involved:
Either a single payer system, where the government has the power to control those costs directly, or…
A TRUE free market, where health care is NOT regulated, but the scam/vulture insurance industry is BANNED for being the scam it is.
Once you take insurance away, which has acted like a cloak hiding the true problem for decades, you’ll find very quickly that prices WILL go down across the board. There won’t be a choice because nobody will pay out of pocket these prices.
Those are your choices, choose wisely. Or, let the oligarchs continue to squeeze and take advantage of the poorest and weakest among us – your choice.
